  • Complete with unused original tools and numerous rare accessories
  • The next best thing to a “new” 1970 911

By the early 1970s, the Porsche 911 had hit its stride, and its iconic shape had become instantly recognizable to a future generation of collectors. The air-cooled rear engine was producing up to 200 horsepower, and the marque’s success in all forms of competition tempted many sports car enthusiasts to try a 911—and never go back.

The 911 E Targa offered here was purchased new by a Porsche dealer in the Chicago area, and it remained in his family until 2013.

As per family legend, the car sustained one door ding while being driven by a boyfriend in a parking lot. The family was told by the body shop that a perfect match could not be guaranteed, so the car was completely repainted in its original color of Bahia Red. The black interior remains in outstanding, original, nearly perfectly preserved condition, as do the targa top and cover. The car retains its original tool set, which has never been used, as well as the factory tire pressure gauge, an original touch-up stick in the glove box, an owner’s manual, a maintenance booklet, and numerous other rare accessories that rarely survive with these cars.

Most incredibly, this Porsche has been driven just 5,000 original miles in the last 43 years, and it is described as being “as-new” in every respect.

This car is surely one of the best original 911 Es in existence today, and it is offered here as the “next best thing to a new 1970 Porsche.” This is a singular opportunity to acquire the very best, with its impressive originality and outstanding preservation.
