Our Monterey event, incorporating the distinguished Nick Alexander Woodie Collection, was a great success, posting in excess of $35 million USD in total sales with a solid 86% sell through. We continued to receive strong interest in the auction cars following the sale and are pleased to report a number of significant after sales, including the 1931 Miller V16 Racing Car for $600,000, the 1938 Talbot Lago T120 Roadster for $900,000, the 1967 Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada Alloy for $415,000 and the 1909 Pierce Great Arrow 7-Passenger Touring for $350,000.

Collectors of ACs are in for a treat when RM, in association with Sotheby’s, present the third annual Automobiles of London event next month. Amongst early highlights for the October 28th is a fine selection of ACs from the collection of well-known American enthusiast, Mr. John Moir. It’s highly appropriate that the London auction features motor cars from one of Britain’s oldest and most richly-storied motor manufacturers.
For decades, AC produced hugely desirable touring cars as well as manufacturing some of the most successful sports cars of the period. The Moir collection of ACs is widely regarded as among the most significant in the world. Included in the list of consignments for the London sale are two cars from 1912, including an exquisite Sociable, an important 1956 Aceca Bristol, the first production Aceca to be fitted with the powerful Bristol engine, and a stunning 1972 428 Frua, one of only 52 made.
Another featured collection for the London sale - a magnificent series of coachbuilt cars from renowned Dutch collector, Mr. Edgar Schermerhorn – all to be offered ‘without reserve’. Carefully assembled over the past 15 years, this outstanding segment combines awe-inspiring coachwork with fascinating provenance. Highlights include: a 1938 Bugatti Type 57C Stelvio by Gangloff, a 1947 Cisitalia 202 Cabriolet and a 1935 Bentley 3 ½ Litre by Barker.
