  • Only 81,000 km from new
  • Extremely well documented
  • Spiritual successor to the famed 1973 911 Carrera RS 2.7

Resplendent in Maritime Blue over a Blue and Grey interior with black carpeting, this gorgeous 964 Carrera RS Lightweight has been driven some 81,000 km, yet has been so well maintained that it could pass for new.

Delivered new to Mr Hettrich Rainer of Liederbach on 21 January 1992, this German-specification example was subsequently sold to a telecom executive in Mainz in 1998, passed to Mr Hans Gerber of Rheinbach in 1999. Then, through Porsche brokers Hermanns and Schmitz, who sold it to the British enthusiast Adrian Rowlands in 2000, it was acquired in late 2015 by the consignor. At some point early in its life, the original engine was replaced with another series-correct unit.

The Carrera RS was introduced in 1990 as a track-ready, lightweight version of the Carrera 2. Porsche Great Britain’s sales literature called it ‘a legend re-born’, referring to its predecessor, the famed RS 2.7 that took the Porsche world by storm in 1973. As on the original 2.7 RS, there was great emphasis on weight reduction. Almost everything that did not contribute to outright performance was removed, trimming 250 kg and reducing curb weight to just over 1,233 kilos.

Added were manually adjustable Recaro sport seats, racing harnesses in lieu of airbags, a limited-slip differential, lighter single-mass flywheel, non-assisted steering, lowered ride height and stiffer suspension, larger disc brakes with ABS behind 17-inch diameter magnesium alloy Cup wheels and thinner glass (except the windscreen). There was a lightweight rear bumper and an alloy bonnet.

This RS has been scrupulously maintained by specialists in both Germany and the UK, and it enjoyed a full service in 2015. The interior has been re-trimmed to factory standard, and this example has undergone a full engine rebuild in 2013 at 75,000 km with invoices totalling £13,000. A more recent service has been undertaken in the summer of 2017, for which invoices are available on file. This RS is supplied with extensive service records, as well as MOT certification from October 2000 through July of 2017. Included are the original spare, jack and tool roll.

Here is a rare and well-kept RS for the discerning Porsche collector.
