To their considerable credit, Ford has been aggressive about maintaining the Mustang’s high-performance street cred, even in an era of increasing emissions and safety regulations. The 2013 Shelby GT500 model blew the minds of many enthusiasts when it debuted with an astonishing power increase up to 662 horsepower, along with a new front splitter to improve the car’s high-speed stability, “launch control,” a carbon-fiber driveshaft, no fewer than four exhaust pipes, and Mustang Track Apps, a new dashboard display that shows acceleration, braking, and G-force performance stats to the undoubtedly breathless driver.

Yes, this was a Mustang that, right out of the factory or off the dealer lot, was capable of 200 mph at a fraction of the price that one might expect to pay for similarly exotic and powerful cars. No wonder that it continues to hold its value today. Properly maintained examples with few ownership histories—a single owner in this case—are as hotly desirable as the new cars were.

Mr. and Mrs. Kughn bought their Shelby GT500 Convertible brand new; it was driven back to their showroom, put on display, and, aside from a couple of journeys to the local dealer for service, has remained there since, as a partner to their beautiful 1968 GT500 KR (also offered today). It is finished in Red Candy with Performance White stripes, leather Recaro sport seats with white stripes, a cue-ball shifter for the six-speed manual transmission, and special SVT 20th Anniversary lighted door sills. It is accompanied by the original fabric tonneau cover for the folded convertible top, as well as a Ford Genuine Parts car cover, which is still in the original box.

Undoubtedly, the new owner will have a lot of fun “breaking in” this as-new modern performance powerhouse.
