  • Owned by hot-rodding legend Boyd Coddington; Seen on American Hot Rod and Chasing Classic Cars; Certified by Hot Rods by Boyd as an authentic Boyd Coddington-built vehicle

Boyd Coddington is one of the most celebrated customizers that the hobby has ever known, and due to hard work and the creation of unique vehicles that feature his own signature flair, he earned a reputation that is truly second to none. Coddington’s cars, known for his clean designs and classic style, were some of the most celebrated in the industry, with his creations even winning the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster Award at the Grand National Roadster Show an incredible seven times. As a result, original Coddington-customized cars are some of the most desirable customs money can buy.

According to documentation accompanying this Pickup, Coddington purchased the truck in Indianapolis, with the intension of using it as his shop truck and a semi-daily driver. Once getting the car back to his shop in La Habra, California, he upgraded it to his tastes and made it comfortable enough to be used on a daily basis by installing Vintage Air air conditioning, power brakes, a new dual-exhaust system, a tilt-steering column with a period-correct steering wheel, and a Holley carburetor. The interior was fully reupholstered, and modern VDO gauges and an AM/FM stereo with a CD player were installed. The doors were painted with his logo and some pinstriping was added in matching colors. Most importantly, the car is fitted with a powerful Ford 351 V-8 engine and a three-speed automatic transmission, to provide it with an ample amount of power.

During Coddington’s ownership, the car was seen on the TV show American Hot Rod, and it was later shown on Chasing Classic Cars with Wayne Carini. It is also important to note that in 2011 this truck was certified as a true Boyd Coddington-built vehicle by Coddington’s son Chris, and a certificate attesting to this accompanies the vehicle. It remains in splendid condition today, and its truck-load of character will surely attract lots of attention wherever it goes.
