  • One of the last models produced before AMC merged with Norton
  • Competition model for the emerging scrambler market

Nearly identical to the G30 Matchless, the AJS 18 was built immediately following World War II to supply the intense demand for road motorcycles. Production of AJS Model 18 lasted through 1955, with frame A8683 being one of the later bikes produced. The main difference of the two marques was the location of the magneto – AJS placing it in front of the cylinder as it is on this example.

With the frame number certified by AJS records as being from a road bike from 1954, this AJS 18 has the rigid rear suspension of the original Model 18s, production of which continued even after the spring-frame was introduced. The engine, a SOHC with a capacity of 497 cubic centimetres, produces a power output of 23 horsepower. Presented in excellent condition in striking black, this AJS is sure to delight and thrill its next owner.
